Basics
What information does a structural engineer need for a quote?

The clearer the request, the faster and more reliable the quote. With a few specific details, you can save yourself and your structural engineer rounds of inquiries.
The project in three sentences
What needs to happen? New construction, renovation, extension, breakthrough, adding another floor? A brief description in your own words is sufficient; technical terms are not necessary. The purpose is also helpful: approval, execution, or first a feasibility question.
Location and building
Address or at least location and building type: single-family house, multi-family house, commercial? Year of construction and construction method, if known. These details help determine standards, loads, and the processing effort.
Planning status and documents
Are there already designs, existing plans, or old structural calculations? Photos also help. And what phase is the project in: initial idea, planning permission stage, shortly before the start of construction? Depending on the status, the scope of services varies significantly.
Timeframe and parties involved
By when are the documents needed? Is there already an architect or a construction company? With this information, the quote can be tailored precisely, and the collaboration can start without detours.
